This position is laboratory-based and will include designing and executing experiments to identify and confirm potential therapeutic targets as well as working effectively with internal and external collaborators to advance ongoing exploratory and portfolio projects.
The successful candidate will have a Ph. D. in biological sciences or significant post-graduate experience in an industry setting. A passion for drug discovery and expertise in cellular and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and other approaches to identify and validate targets and pathways is highly desired. Key Accountabilities: Establish and execute in vitro cell culture assays to explore cell signaling in the context
of MS/ALS/PD and other neurodegenerative diseases. Design and execute in vivo experiments in preclinical models of neurodegenerative disease with the ability to generate downstream ex vivo readouts.
Experience with ELISA, western blot, q PCR, and immunocytochemistry Organize experimental results, analyze data, thoroughly document results, and clearly communicate outcomes to project leads and teams. Interact in a matrixed, dynamic and cross-functional manner across the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area, Research Platforms, and various external labs. QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES & CHARACTERISTICS Bachelor's Degree plus minimum 8 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biomedical
setting OR Master's Degree plus minimum 5 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biomedical setting OR Ph D plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biomedical setting.
Expertise in glial biology, neuroimmune interactions, and pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases such as MS, ALS, and PD is highly desired. Excellent analytical, presentation and writing skills.
