The vision of Takeda is to build a world-class Cell Therapy team and deliver allogeneic innate cell therapy products to bring hope to both hematological and solid tumor patients. Oncology Cell Therapy Innovation is missioned to develop innovate innate cell platforms and novel engineering approaches to drive the discovery pipeline for Takeda Cell Therapy. ROLE OVERVIEW: This position is seeking an experienced and highly motivated immunologist, who has a solid background in immunology, especially immuno-oncology and
innate cell biology, to join the Cell Therapy Experimental Immunology team.
We are looking for someone who is highly dedicated and driven to advance new therapies to patients and who has a strong work ethic, drive and collaborative mindset. The candidate will lead efforts in identifying new ways to optimize CAR-NK and CAR-γδ T cell platforms byimproving our understanding of the basic biology of NK and γδ T cells. The focus will be in discovering new ways to improve potency, persistence and immune modulation through developing a solid understanding of activation, survival, costimulation, differentiation, and suppressive mechanisms affecting these cells. The principal scientist will lead discovery projects and collaborate with colleagues within and across departments.
How you will contribute: Contribute to pre-clinical/discovery work by designing, executing and leading experiments to further understand key pathways and mechanisms driving NK and γδ T cells biology Lead from the lab to advance novel and differentiated cell therapy products toward clinical milestones, by working collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external partners. Design, execute, and interpret functional in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo assays to understand the mechanism-of-action and play an active role in subsequent scientific discussions to drive decisions.
Propose novel projects based on internal results, external partners, and published reports and demonstrate leadership through effective communication of study plans/value, and research results. Prepare and present comprehensive technical or project reports and formal presentations/posters to full range of internal/external audiences. Ability to work independently and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Maintain laboratory notebooks and follow laboratory practices in compliance. Contribute to IND report and documentation.
Collaborate with cross-function teams and contribute in matrix-based project groups Other job duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Ph D degree in a scientific discipline with 6+ years experience, or MS with 12+ years experience, or BS with 14+ years experience Minimum of 8+ years relevant medical industry/academic experience post-graduation Hands-on experience with CAR-T, CAR-NK, CAR-γδ T, or TCR-T cell therapies/immunotherapies is required, including cell culture, immune cell activation/expansion, cytotoxicity assays, sc RNAseq and high-throughput screening.
Profound skills in in vitro and in vivo immune cell characterization and functional backssment, such as, multi-color flow immunophenotyping, multiplex cytokine measurements, cytotoxicity assays, and other molecular based assays. Experience with lentiviral transduction/CRISPR mediated KO/KI. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented organization skills, and team collaboration skills. Track record of publications to demonstrate scientific establishment.
