Installs or repairs decks, bulkheads, and tank linings. Prepare and inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using various measuring tools such as micrometer or caliper. Removes rough spots from work piece, using hand tools (i. e. portable grinder, hand file, or scraper). Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch and adjusts
valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc. Reads and understands blueprints and other construction plans. Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. Troubleshoots minor issues with equipment and tools. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Ability to learn new duties and assignments through on-the-job training Qualifications Applicants with prior experience in similar industry preferred High School Diploma or GE preferred Candidates must be able to pass a qualification test prior to being considered for hire. Must be able to pass a drug screen Physical requirements Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, overhead work, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to work in tight, confined spaces, such as accessing manholes, and awkward positions for long periods of time.
Must be able to conduct inside and outside work in all temperatures. Use of manufacturing equipment. Work in environment where harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, gases, etc. might be present and the use of a respirator may be required.
