Primary Purpose: Responsible for preparing, scheduling, and coordinating outgoing shipments by requesting quotes on freight costs, calculating required shipment data (weight, pallets, cartons, and cube), inspecting shipment packaging and staging prior to loading, tracking of each pickup and delivery, and preparing and maintaining shipping documents accurately and in a timely fashion. Also responsible for ensuring inventory
is updated after each shipment has been released. Job Description: Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents.
Assist in resolving any discrepancies and identifying root cause and corrective actions. Assist with the coordination and scheduling of customer carrier pick-ups, and ensure drivers depart with appropriate paperwork. Confirm physical shipment of goods and facilitate tracking of packages. Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods. Use a warehouse management system to prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight. Initiate, answer and document tracer inquiries when requested via
email, phone, and/or fax. Process necessary invoices to appropriate office for payment.
Coordinate shipping material handler's activity and tasks on the shipping dock. Complete necessary management reports as required. Facilitate efficient and accurate staging and loading of trucks for customer delivery commitments. Complete accurate recording and reporting of shipping transactions. Report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes. Qualifications: Required: Minimum 1-2 years of experience either in shipping or administrative office support. Competent with MS Excel and Microsoft Office/Outlook. Ability to communicate effectively and read/interpret documents.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups. Plan, organize and meet deadlines and schedules. Ability to work as part of a team. Preferred: Knowledge of computerized inventory and tracking systems. Experience working with transportation management systems and/or other system software applications. Working knowledge on any of the following Transportation Systems is a big plus: Home Depot's Transportation Management and Non-Stop Delivery System, Lowe's Tru Commerce System, Tractor Supply Transportation Mgmt. System, UPS on-line Starship, and Fed Ex's on-line System.
