Essential Job Duties: Provide oversight in the delivery of diagnostic service to support VH clients, college clients, research community, surrounding referring DVM (r DVM) clients and industry clients.
Manage and support up to 50 reports with direct leadership of 4 supervisors across various disciplines to include Clinical Pathology and Immunology, Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics, Histopathology and Autopsy. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensure hospital service needs are met by working productively with internal customers
to include faculty, clinicians, residents, house officers, staff and students with focus on customer service.
Ensure external customers (r DVMs, industry clients and academic researchers) service needs are met. Supports and directs the supervisor’s operation of the laboratory sections (MMD, CP&I, Autopsy, Histology). Monitor and manage operational expenses, (personnel, equipment, equipment service contracts and equipment monitoring services) and operational revenue. Oversee supervisor’s ability to manage appropriate inventory levels and plan for future adjustments based on workflow. Regulate supervisor’s lab cost analysis and SUB approved rates with guidance from College Business and Financing.
Work closely with VH Business Administration to ensure hospital rates are appropriately priced to cover operational costs and projections. Manage diagnostic laboratory continuing education budget and communicate with VH Business Administration. Contribute to the management of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), as it pertains to laboratory diagnostics and integration with Hospital Information System (HIS). Manage improvement requests and communications based on client needs. Manage LIS maintenance and improvements as a result of an internal client need Support hospital committees, hospital board and hospital business needs as directed by the Hospital Administration, as it pertains to Laboratory Diagnostics and any other duties assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience: BS degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biological Science 10+ years of veterinary diagnostic laboratory experience 5-7 years in laboratory leadership (not solely management), across several various disciplines Other Required Qualifications: 3+ years experience in building and or maintaining laboratory information systems (LIS) Previous experience with Data Innovation Interfaces and HL7 Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree preferred Effectively supervised lab operations and reports Understands laboratory equipment and processes present in tertiary care veterinary facilities Competent in establishing SOPs Collegial and committed to growth in the laboratory diagnostics and laboratory personnel Ability to manage multiple projects while also ensuring customer service to clients Dedicated to upholding NCSU CVM values ASCP certification preferred, but not required Required License(s) or Certification(s): N/A Valid NC Driver's License required: No Commercial Driver's License required: No Job Open Date: 12/08/2023 Anticipated Close Date: Open until filled Special Instructions to Applicants: Please include a cover letter, resume, and the contact information for three professional references.
