PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months. CLASS DESCRIPTION A Community Health Nurse Supervisor II plans, develops and implements a community health-nursing program or supervises
nurse supervisors. Work of this class involves directing the activities of nursing and office work units. Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior.
Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where there are no uncomfortable working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion. SELECTION PROCESS All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application.

Qualified candidates will not be listed in rank order. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must: EDUCATION: Have a master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university. EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience as a registered nurse, two of which must have been in community health nursing, including one year of supervising community health nurses with responsibility for disciplining, evaluating the performance of and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of such staff. NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Have one year of additional experience may be substituted for the master's degree.
Non-supervisory experience or education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Have a current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland or registered nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques. Knowledge of nursing theory and process. Knowledge of professional nursing standards. Ability to deal effectively with others.
Ability to backss and analyze the health needs of individuals and families and interpret backssment findings to other professionals. Ability to develop nursing care plans. Ability to counsel others in health problems and concerns. Ability to oversee the activities of nurses and auxiliary personnel. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
