REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master of Science degree from an accredited college/university in Nursing/PMHNP. Licensure as a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with minimum education as determined and required by the relevant licensing board. Prefer a minimum of one year of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Will consider a newly licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner.

RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to Psychiatry and nursing; Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication; Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques related to individual therapy, counseling practices and risk backssment for the mentally ill; Thorough knowledge of individual management guidelines for Virginia; thorough knowledge of the laws and legal procedures relating to hospital admission; Thorough knowledge of community resources hospitalization options, treatment providers and other agencies in service to the

mentally ill population; Ability to establish and maintain rapport with the individual population; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and with private and public community partners; physicians, subordinates and others contacted in the course of work; Ability to function calmly in stressful, if not crisis situations; Ability to risk backss and prioritize service demands; Ability to prepare and maintain patient medical records and prepare reports in compliance with licensure regulations; Ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, backss and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment and service plans; Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to confidently provide expert testimony in both oral and written formats; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license.

May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client@other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Knowledge of database systems and software, as well as, the best practices for effective utilization; Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
