The Office is currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General in the Residential Utilities Division of the Office. The attorney's
primary caseload will involve advocating for residential and small business ratepayers before the Public Utilities Commission and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly committed team that makes a difference in the everyday lives of Minnesotans. As an Assistant Attorney General, you will work alongside analysts to advocate for policies that will improve the lives of Minnesota's residential and small business ratepayers receiving electric, gas, and landline telephone service. The division primarily appears before the Public Utilities Commission and the Office of Administrative Hearings. The position may also provide opportunities to appear
before Minnesota's appellate courts and to participate in formal and informal stakeholder groups addressing areas of emerging public utility policy.
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a law school accredited by the ABA and licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota or ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire Outstanding oral and written communication skills (a writing sample of up to five pages is required to be attached to a cover letter) Ability to: use electronic files and case management tools multitask by managing an active caseload and meeting tight deadlines work in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment contribute positively to a team and interact successfully with co-workers, state and federal law enforcement colleagues, and members of the public travel throughout the state with possible out-of-state travel as required IMPORTANT!

agencies in state and federal district and appellate courts, and in administrative proceedings. This position's primary caseload will involve representing the Department of Commerce in cases before the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
This includes representing the Department in contested case proceedings before the Office of Administrative Hearings and at PUC meetings. These cases often relate to establishing gas and electric utility rates, but also include other energy- and telecom-related matters such as addressing legal issues related to Minnesota's transition to clean energy, reviewing power plant operations and maintenance following outages, and addressing the siting and routing
of transmission lines and energy-generation facilities. The attorney may also work on other cases for the division, which represents a wide variety of agencies and boards both in general litigation and in licensing-enforcement matters.
