of interest in applying to medical schools. We are searching for a visionary leader who will develop a new strategic plan to build on the offices record of excellence and to pioneer efforts to transform the office into a premier place of pre health advising for a diverse undergraduate population.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for leadership and management of the office, including development of new programs and policies. Expand innovative curricular opportunities including programming and workshops for undergraduates in addition to individual advising appointments. Support student efforts to connect with community service opportunities, summer academic enrichment, post-baccalaureate
enhancement, and masters programs. Support student efforts in their applications to law schools as well as pre-health pathways beyond medical school.
Maintain relationships with academic departments and administrative units in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Whiting School of Engineering, and Homewood Student Affairs. Liaise with JHUs Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Diversity and Partnership to build stronger connections between KSAS and the School of Medicine, as well as external organizations such as the Leadership Alliance. Represent Johns Hopkins to medical, law, and other professional schools and their professional associations, both as a spokesperson for the program
as well as an advocate for applicants. Partner with the JUMP program (Johns Hopkins Underrepresented in Medical Professions) to fulfill the Offices core mission to support students from underrepresented populations “ particularly the universitys FLI community (first generation, limited income) success in careers in medicine and the health professions for students from underrepresented populations.
Serve as chairperson of the Pre-Health Advisory Board, member of the Vice Dean for Undergraduate Education Leadership Team, and a key member of the Pre-Health Academy. Be responsible for the overall the management of staff, budget, and strategic initiatives; and ensuring continuing backssment of programs and services.
Pursue professional development opportunities through engagement with the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) and/or other relevant organizations. Experience liaising admissions teams in medical schools. Have a working knowledge of academics and academic institutions including knowledge of the medical school application process, pre-health pathways, Committee Letters, and mentoring students through these processes. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree or equivalent in professional experience. 5 years of strong leadership experience within pre-health advising.
