Administer medication to inmates/residents under the directsupervision of the Health Service Administrator.

Obtain, monitor, record and report vital signs and patient'scondition as needed. Prepare patients for physical exams, procedures and treatments. Assist nurses/physician with physical exams, procedures andtreatments. Assist nurse with control and inventory of sharps, medicalsupplies and equipment as required by established policies. Assist nurse with preparing and maintaining a variety of

reportsand logs, to include filing, alphabetizing and labeling. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly; utilizeappropriate sanitation methods. Assist medical personnel with retrieving/filing medical records.

Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medicalrecords. Assist with the inspection of the medical unit for items thatcould be used as contraband by inmates/residents; securely store supplies andequipment or ensure their safe disposal. Assist in performing CPR, when needed. Facilitate, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO accreditation ofthe medical program by providing the required level of organizational efficiencyand approved, appropriate medical services. Escort

inmates/residents orcoordinate the movement of inmates/residents to and from different areas formedical treatment.

Reliably and repetitivelyidentify inmates/residents by visual means. Engage in functions in confined areas thatinclude such things as working rotating shifts and physically checking thedoors, windows and other areas to verify they are secure. Be aware that verbal abuse maybe present with the hostile views and opinions of inmates/residents and othersencountered in an antagonistic environment. Take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations. Inspect unclothed inmates/residents withpossible exposure to body fluids, wastes and possible encounter with deceasedor contagious persons.

Endeavor to comply with the requirements of applicableregulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards and/or contract. Inspect the medical unit for items that could be used ascontraband by inmate/residents; securely store or safely dispose of suppliesand equipment. Establish and maintain effective workingrelations with others and handle difficult interpersonal contacts. Attend scheduled staffmeetings, promote communications and the proper flow of relevant information inthe medical unit. Add, subtract, multiply and divide usingwhole numbers, common fractions and decimals; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Review, process and respond (via corporate counsel) to lawsuits; attend court hearings, when necessary. Interpret an extensive variety of medicaland technical instructions in the form of handwritten text, correspondence, policies, regulations, procedures, reports, directions for forms completion andother simple or complex documents. Communicate effectively andcoherently to administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors and thegeneral public, particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment.

Operate a vehicle during both the day andnight where driving conditions can include congested traffic and unsafe roadconditions caused by factors such as fog, rain, ice and snow. Remain alert at all times andreact quickly, efficiently and calmly in emergency and other high stresssituations. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent orgreater. Must possess a currentcertification from an approved formal nursing assistant program or equivalentprogram with written consent from corporate Director, Health Services and be CPR certified.

Must possess appropriatecertification or licensing in the state where practice occurs. Avalid driver's license is required. Must be at least 18 years of age.
