The Controls Service Technician will be responsible for servicing existing controls systems in our customer base, fulfilling contractual obligations under service agreements, and the installation and commissioning of small service projects, in a fast paced, often time sensitive environment.
The Controls Service Technician performs the following duties and other related duties as assigned: Knowledge: Requires critical thinking skills, self-motivation, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision Mechanical and / or electrical aptitude, including but not limited to ductwork, mechanical piping, variable frequency drives, excellent problem-solving skills,
critical thinking skills and decisive judgment skills are a must Preferred knowledge and experience in ABB drives, Alerton Envision/Compass, Niagara Tridium, Distech, Critical Room Control, and Siemens control systems is a plus Knowledge of Microsoft Visio, and Acumatica Accounting software is a plus Service: Diagnose mechanical issues, design constraints, control device or software deficiencies Implement solutions and communicate quoted work to customers Appropriately record work performed and complete required documentation Perform software upgrades to control systems and graphics Technical support for customers and other control technicians and engineers Supports project transition from installation
team, through warranty into service period Respond to emergency service calls, perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventative maintenance obligations as laid out by service agreements to customer base Installation: Completes small software graphics and programming where necessary Provides jobsite coordination for panel and field device physical locations Perform the loading, device verification, point to point check out, and commissioning of sequence of operation on all system controllers as required Cable / conduit installation and wiring terminations as required Effectively communicates the status of projects to management for the purpose of managing costs, billings and collections on assigned projects Responsibilities could include independent ownership of a turnkey project, or working with a project team and project managers as part of larger projects Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required.
Graduate of Trade School Preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in Commercial/Industrial building automation controls Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability Strong organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently or as a member of a team Strong initiative Ability to utilize mathematical and problem-solving skills Physical Demands: Observe all company procedures and safety rules This is a physical / construction type of position.
It will require but not be limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and crawling. In some cases, it could be for extended periods. This position will also require being up on ladders and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to lift 40 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally Ability to maintain a professional appearance Other Requirements: May be required to satisfy other requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs, including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19 and similar, subject to all applicable laws Experience working in teams to complete a job on time and under budget.
Valid driver's license (including a satisfactory driving record) and evidence of insurability Full Time, 40 Hours / week. Overtime is a possibility but does have to be preapproved. Daily travel to job sites, generally in the state of Indiana (but not limited to) May require out of state travel for required training.
