and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance. Cardiac Surgery Progressive Care: The Cardiac Surgery Progressive Care Unit (CSPCU) is a 24-bed telemetry unit that provides care to adult patients requiring pre- and post-operative care for heart surgery.

Members of the CSPCU nursing team care for patients who are one or more days removed from cardiac surgery. Patients on the unit will have undergone invasive open-chest procedures including: coronary artery bypass (CABG), heart valve repair/replacement, heart and lung transplants, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and more. Patient care involves working with the interdisciplinary team to progress patients through the care plan

by providing top-of-its-class nursing, respiratory, and physical therapy care to patients so they can ambulate and recover from their surgery. Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.

Current CPR certification required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to backss data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs. Ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Patient Safety Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety. Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority. Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
