THE DAY TO DAY FOR A CIVIL ENGINEER / ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER In this Civil Engineer / Roadway Design Engineer position, we rely on your knowledge and expertise to take the lead when it comes to brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. Much of your time is spent preparing designs, studies, and reports, and you verify compliance for each project, checking criteria, to review and determine all appropriate applications of technical methods are being used.
Further, you take a hands-on approach to developing engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings, and estimates. Additionally, when you can, you step away from your desk to participate in presentations and perform inspections and research in the field. When appropriate, you help with training and mentoring new employees.
