This position is located in Sterling, VA. In this position, the successful candidate will: Applies multidisciplinary software engineering skills, compliance, knowledge, and project management experience to design software engineering research studies, determines the appropriate analysis methods, identifies problems, and develops and implements solutions to complex problems. Designs,
develops, documents, tests, and debugs new and existing software systems, hardware/software interfaces, and/or applications according to industry established software engineering principals and best practices.
Works collaboratively within a team to execute the full system development lifecycle, including analyzing user needs to determine technical requirements; developing technical specifications based on conceptual design and requirements; developing well‐crafted and documented source code; integrating hardware using software; automating manual tasks; and consulting with the end users to prototype, configure, refine, test, and debug programs or systems. Identifies and evaluates new technologies
or methods for implementation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities Performs highly complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for software systems, hardware/software interfaces, and/or applications. Analyzes and interprets complex data. Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to reduce life-cycle cost, improve performance and integrate new technology. Prepares and presents advanced technical reports and presentations to client, both formal and informal. Conducts and leads technical projects or major phases of technical projects.
Reviews projects progress, evaluates results, identifies technical options and risks to meet schedule. Recommends modifications and corrections in technical analyses and design to ensure project completion. Builds relationships with internal and external clients. Prepares and presents final reports to clients and stakeholders. Communicates with client regarding the schedule and quality of deliverables. Contributes to pilot studies. Works on projects involving innovative methods or applications. Trains lower-level staff to improve technical development. Coordinates and provides day-to-day work direction to lower-level staff to support overall project goals.
Creates software designs from use cases that consider security, ease of use, error and fault conditions, remote diagnostics and ease of maintenance. Participates in, reviews and prepares material for code reviews and design reviews, interface documents, requirements documents to ensure product will meet customer requirements. Reviews test procedures, data and oversees integrated testing. Follows safety, security, quality, configuration management and operating policies and procedures. Prepares technical sections of proof of concept design documents, white papers and presentations.
Performs Analysis of Alternatives. Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related field with 8 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience or Ph D with 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. Experience in one or more of the following technologies: License Plate Reader (LPR), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems, digital signage, kiosks, biometrics, mobile technologies, artificial intelligence, Io T, Wireless communications, imaging systems, camera analytics, non-intrusive inspection equipment.
Experience with DHS clients, systems, and screening processes. Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability. Must be US Citizen.
