Job Summary: Join this high impact team as a Principal Network Engineer (P3) to ensure the smooth operation of classified network infrastructure at our Raytheon locations. The installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of the network infrastructure will be performed. Candidate must have a background supporting networks at an advanced level. This role will be onsite and based in Tewksbury, MA, and
may require occasional travel to other local and US Domestic locations as necessary. Relocation support is provided for the applicant if they qualify per company policy.
Focus on Inter-team communication and organization of clear documentation of network details to support and enable smooth project growth. Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, authentication
servers, IP telephony systems, encryptors, etc. Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings, accounting for uptime and SLA requirements and for application specific needs.
Install, develop, and maintain network access and network management software platforms. Prepare or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation. Where no documentation exists, new documentation will be created. Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
Lead coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support. Work with program engineers to help resolve networking problems in tactical environments. Generate network designs that include selection of hardware and software packages, hierarchical architecture, and account for geographical limitations. Drive the overall performance and capability of technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing. Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures. Basic Qualifications: Role typically Requires a bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience in Network Engineering/Technology roles, an advanced degree with 3 years’ experience, or Associates with 7 years’ experience. In lieu of degree, 9 years of relevant experience in IT/Network Engineering will be considered. Advanced knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, authentication servers, and intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades. Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.
Active and transferable U. S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U. S. citizenship is required, as only U. S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed. Experience with network architecture design and development. Experience with network management software. Experience with access control lists, security posture and vendor pest practices. Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities.
