Scope of Duties include but are not limited to: Admit, evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation, and treat patients of all ages with diseases/disorders of the arterial, venous, and lymphatic circulatory systems, excluding the intracranial vessels or the heart.
Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies. backss, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. Provide outpatient and inpatient care - Operate on emergencies and elective procedures
- Interpret vascular ultrasound studies - Teach and train surgical residents. Applicants must be proficient in all aspects of vascular surgery including open and endovascular techniques.
Applicants must have completed an accredited Vascular Surgery Residency or Fellowship and be Board-Certified in Vascular Surgery. Percutaneous and endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial diseases Open and surgical bypass procedures for PAD Endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm Thoracic endovascular aortic aneurysm repair Extra-cranial carotid disease Venous procedures including VNUS closure procedures a plus Proficient with wires and catheters Interpretation of Non-Invasive Vascular
Lab Studies Performs a wide array of open and endovascular procedures with emphasis on complex revisional surgery, limb salvage, carotid endarterectomy, aortic aneurysm repair, and AV (arteriovenous) access.
Provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examinations, surgical consultation, and developing treatment and follow-up plans. Provides ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. Assists in teaching residents and fellows Preferred Experience: Board-Certified in both Vascular and General Surgery. Excellent teaching abilities as demonstrated by teaching awards and documented teaching activities during training or in practice.
Robust academic abilities as demonstrated by recent publications within the field of vascular surgery Experience working in VA either during training or in practice. Experience with systems improvement and quality assurance as demonstrated by committee involvement or publications. Work Schedule: Part-time, Permanent. 25 hours per pay period. Work schedule to be determined by service line. Compensation and Benefits: Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized for highly qualified candidates.
Paid-Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid-time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401k with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement. Employment Requirements: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
