the hourly rate. NMP Golf Construction Corp. (NMP) provides golf course construction, renovation and maintenance services, special expertise in solving drainage issues, and landscaping and environmental restoration. Job Duties: NMP has multiple openings for the offered job.
Employees will report to the Construction Superintendent at each site to which they are assigned and will perform job functions in the following categories: Pipe installation and drainage (approximately 30% of work hrs. ): Install irrigation pipes and assemble/connect sprinklers, while ensuring proper bonding of pipes. In the morning, prepare, load and transport the required material that is to be installed during
the day into utility vehicles for transport to the work zones (which are not always close to the staging area). Ensure optimal planning of installations to avoid inefficiencies and work stoppages for other functions.
Maintain inventory of parts, tools, etc. for planned jobs. Execute the leveling work and cleaning on bottom of excavated trenches (usually about 12 to 24 deep) to allow a smooth floor and prevent rock from being against the pipes. In the case where the trench is for a drainage pipe the preparation is the same as for the irrigation pipe, but it is important to pay attention to instrumentation levels (lasers level) to ensure a good draining slope, to choose the right hook-up
selection (pipe fittings) and ensure proper use of drainage-related tools.
In both cases, for irrigation or drainage, the first lift of backfilling material needs to be installed by hand to ensure the protection of the pipe. Trenches need to be compacted every 1-foot lift with the use of a jumping jack. Finishing (approximately 25% of work hrs. ): Execute finishing work, including adjustments to sprinklers, valve boxes, etc. ensuring an equal compaction of materials. General landscape labor (approximately 20% of work hrs. ): Shovel and rake topsoil, sand, and gravel around greens, tees, and cart paths, and into bunkers for the installation of bunker sand. Execute soil compaction work with jumping jack or hand roller.
Clean the bottom of irrigation trenches. Carry, unroll and install turf (sod). Cut and trim the sod appropriately, installing in a manner to limit waste. Perform the first watering of the sod. Maintain drainage and irrigation connections. Install liners (geosynthetic fabric) into the bottom of the bunkers and bunker boards (borders) surrounding sand traps. Verify for thickness of topsoil mix with a probe into the greens (12), tees (6) and bunker sands (4). Install decorative wall stones. Maintain the good appearance and clean look of the grounds by raking and smoothing the soil to prevent holes or bumps.
Maintain the cleanliness of the utility vehicle (gator) every day by emptying tools and storing them in site containers and disposing of material and garbage appropriately. Ensure adequate oiling of chains and that required vehicle inspections are done every day. Safely drive and operate vehicles and equipment. Maintain equipment and tools, including recovering tools. Perform related duties that assist or relieve other employees with their normally assigned functions, such as driving small tractor with trailer for short distances.
Seeding (approximately 10% of work hrs. ): Spread fertilizers and seeds with specialized tools following pre-determined zones, both manually and hydraulically with hydroseeding equipment. Fill hydro-seeding tanks with correct mix (mulch quantity ratio with water). Use manual seeders with correct techniques for crossing passes. Seed greens, including tee greens, using correct techniques to minimize footprints, etc. and considering important factors such as humidity and wind. Use ploughing equipment, including sand-pro, employing correct techniques. Wiring installation (approximately 10% of work hrs.
): Install wires irrigation in trenches with attention to crossovers, sufficiency, leak tightness, and other factors. Hook up sprinkler heads or electric valves with installed wires. Safety and security (approximately 5% of work hrs. ): Be aware of and comply with pertinent OSHA regulations. Use/wear equipment, protective devices and/or clothing (such as safety boots) required by NMP. Report the existence of observed hazards to supervisor, including equipment defects and malfunctions, problems with protective devices, etc. Minimum Requirements: 6 months of related landscaping and grounds keeping labor experience, including (1) following plans for the grounds and using hand and power tools, (2) laying sod, (3) installing sprinklers, (4) seeding, (5) fertilizing, and (6) soil compacting.
