Routine inspection on both interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, equipment, systems, and compost site. Communicate with management on all concerns related to vehicles, equipment, operations, facility, and compost site. Perform lock-out tag-out and confined space entry procedures. Responsible for keeping track of shop tools and equipment and keep well organized. Inspect and keep recycling depot area clean by removing
all problem materials. Assist with opening/closing of facility, main building, and compost sites. Cover front desk as needed including basic sales and manual scale transactions.
Loading and delivery of compost and wood mulch for customers throughout Manitowoc County as needed. Assist with building and tipping compost windrows to specifications. Interact with staff, customers, and contractors in a professional and respectful manner. Assist with annual Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep event. Attend informational seminars and trainings as scheduled. Perform any other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have and maintain a CDL Class B Driver's
license w/out air brake restrictions and have a Federal Medical Card.
Knowledge of OSHA Standards and how they apply to the facility. Must be able to meet Ascend Services Inc. Insurance Carrier's Vehicle Insurance Standards. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year experience operating heavy equipment/dump truck. Knowledge and ability to perform equipment maintenance, basic repairs, and troubleshoot mechanical problems. SKILLS: Strong leadership and organizational skills. Must have mechanical/hands on skills. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills. Must understand that serving others is an important component of this position. Must be creative, community-minded and energized by a highly diverse and collaborative environment. Basic skills to operate a computer. Must have a valid driver's license in good standing. Must be able to meet Ascend Services Insurance Carriers Vehicle Insurability Standards. Must be able to stand for lengthy periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to bend/squat/twist/kneel frequently. Must be able to physically transfer participant from a wheelchair in a safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Work indoor and outdoor all year round. Work under seasonal conditions of cold, wet, heat and humidity. Required to work some holidays that occur during regular work shift.
