Requisition Summary Do you want to help shape the future of Peterbilt and PACCAR? We are looking for electrical engineers with interest in supporting
design development for autonomous vehicle product power distribution and vehicle controls design development integration. Duties involve interface with Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, and Management to evaluate customer requirements and definition of vehicle level targets that support launching the next generation autonomous trucks, as well as engineering assistance, problem resolution, training and other engineering duties supporting various aspects of heavy truck production.
Scope of work includes project definition, mature ideas through concept development, final design development, validation planning, testing support and launching product into production by applying standard
engineering techniques with degree of supervision varying with experience.
Hiring level will be commensurate with experience and skills. Job Functions / Responsibilities Participate in the development of an Automated Driving System (ADS) Level 4 Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP) including power distribution system, electrical architecture integration and harness design. · Design and release of electrical and electronic ADS related components and systems for heavy duty commercial vehicles. · Develop technical requirement specifications for actuators, redundant power distribution, and other ADS related components. · Integrate ADS related electrical/electronic features/requirements into Peterbilt/PACCAR vehicles.
· As part of a new product development team, perform the design and development of assigned elements of wiring harnesses, routings and guides system level schematics or other embedded electronic control modules. · Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality. · Plan and track validation testing of components. · Support product launch at vehicle assembly plants. · Ensure industry leading quality and reliability is met/maintained/exceeded on all components. · Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architect(s), and mechanical design group.
· Contribute to development of procedures and practices that ensure quality and reliable electric/electronic systems. · Complete engineering change notice documentation to manage old and new parts and use proprietary software to issue part bid requests. · Initial packaging/space claim studies of AVP components/systems. Skills / Competencies Knowledge of DC power distribution, management, protection, fusing, and routing systems, practices, and tools desired. · Knowledge of DC power storage, conversion, and generation related to low voltage power systems.
· Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck assembly, heavy truck components and electrical systems preferred. · Experience developing vehicle systems is a plus · Excellent interpersonal skills are required. · Handles multiple tasks, takes initiative, team player, problem-solver, professional and effective communication skills (written and verbal) is required. · Willing to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems. · Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point. · Experience using Pro-E and/or Mentor Graphics will be given preference.
· Previous design experience of parts and assemblies will be given preference. · Proficiency using Requirements Management tools, Systems Engineering tools, Pro/E or other 3D CAD software also desired. · New graduate to experienced level candidates are encouraged to apply. Leads or represents Manufacturing Engineering on equipment/process/product development and enhancement projects.
Provides ergonomic backssments of current and future processes/applications. Identifies and implements complex layouts and studies of plant facility arrangements and manufacturing operations. Provides direction of time and work sequence studies and reviews and recommends adjustments to manufacturing operations. Develops procedures and plant arrangements to ensure proper material handling and storage. Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes, as necessary. Determines manufacturing processes for assembly of new product development.
Provides cross-functional support to Product Development, Marketing and Advanced Manufacturing to facilitate transfer of designs to manufacturing. Supports Production by troubleshooting technical issues related to process and components. Supports Production by participating in other duties as assigned to meet Production expectations. Fabricates or coordinates fabrication of prototypes or production equipment. Identifies, prioritizes, and coordinates resolution of Production and Quality Assurance issues by involving appropriate personnel. Determines and balances operations manning with production schedules, develops standard operation times, conducts various studies.
Prepares and implements capital budget items. Maintains control documents per ISO requirements. Demonstrates professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities. Works weekends or non-shift hours and travels as required to support Production and project implementations. Qualifications Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering or appropriate major required. Demonstrated ability gained through 3-5 years of experience in related assignments (preferred), preferably possessing 2 to 3 years with PACCAR.

We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for Master Data Manager is $93,000 - $125,055.00 annually.
