Engineer Quality - Mission and Quality Assurance Defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability
of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. backsses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission success.
A BS Degree in electrical engineering or aerospace engineering, plus at least two (2) years of experience with complex electrical, battery storage systems or electromechanical assemblies such as switches or Radio Frequency products. Work experience must be in problem definition, resolution and design/system understanding of electronic and electromechanical systems. Experience in the quality assurance of procured items and the systems which flow-down contractual requirements to a supply base or aerospace
manufacturing companies is highly desirable. Experience in inspection planning, incoming inspection processes and continuous improvement methods (such as Lean or Six-Sigma) are also highly desirable.
ASQ Certification (CQM, CQE) or Six Sigma is a plus. Ability to obtain " Controlled Unclassified Information" (CUI) access is required. Able to work independently as well as leading a team to reach assigned goals. Able to develop, evaluate and improve quality assurance processes compliant to aerospace industry standards (AS9100) and expectations. Ability to articulate in the presentation of aerospace hardware and systems problems to technical professionals to initiate resolutions.
Knowledge of discrepant material procedures, i. e. Discrepancy Reporting and MRB. System integration and range safety experience a plus. Experienced with Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point software required. Candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and quality oversight in the acquisition of electronic and electromechanical systems for various launch applications. This entails the review of all discrepant hardware discovered during source inspection, receiving inspection and subsequent assembly into launch systems and their testing, determining the company's exposure to like discrepancies which includes leading investigations, collecting supporting documentation, identifying sources of supply, devising suspect material containment plans, creating corrective and preventative action plans, and working with technical teams for final resolution within a timeline goal.
This position will also develop and deploy continuous improvement initiatives for this process to support supply base performance goals in supplier approval, surveillance, auditing, and quality rating. This position works closely with engineering, mission assurance, material, and procurement professionals in the entire purchasing process to ensure the highest quality of procured hardware.
This position is also responsible for the stream of supplier quality assurance contractual data and the subsequent report generation and publishing of performance metrics using Excel, Word, and Power Point software. Travel is an essential function of this position (approximately 30%) and may be on short notice. This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances. Other duties as assigned.
Work schedule includes a 9/80 schedule (9 hours per day, 9 days every 2 weeks, every other Friday off) Salary Range: $66,600 - $99,800The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
