around the world. Grace employs approximately 4,300 people in over 30 countries. Job Description Grace is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team! This role reports to our Site Technical Manager and is located at our Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD.
In this position, you will be responsible for the design, testing, troubleshooting, and overseeing implementations of process controls for new and existing systems. Additionally, you will help create and implement strategies to improve process efficiency, and support start-up activities. Along with all employees at Curtis Bay, you will participate in the sites environmental, health and safety initiatives and play
an integral role in achieving compliance with our EHS policy, including emergency preparedness and response. Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve DCS (Honeywell) and PLC based control systems to ensure processes operate safely while striving to optimize the plant’s production, quality, and costs.
Manage DCS hardware infrastructure, backup systems, and documentation – including alarms, interlocks, and P&IDs. Conducts and supports commissioning and startup activities, including DCS validation, PHA, PSSR, MOC, writing SOP/work instructions, and conducting DCS user training. Develop, maintain, and improve CL programming, ladder logic, and DCS schematics for plant processes.
Establish and implement long term system migration plans to address obsolescence issues and to ensure system capabilities are in line with advance controls system needs.
Recommend operations and capital budgets for spending on site automation systems, and the ability to manage process controls-related capital projects larger than $500k. Assist with plant troubleshooting during normal operations, startups, and plant emergencies, including at times, on nights and weekends. Oversee contractors who perform work on DCS systems, including software and hardware support. Work with plant operators and shift supervisors to improve HMI and controls. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications BS in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. 5-15 years of process controls in a chemical manufacturing environment or related process industry. Fluency in process controls systems. Excellent communication skills - verbal and written, ability to vary style to meet needs. High level of personal motivation with a drive for ownership and accountability in performance of job responsibilities. Ability to work effectively within a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Honeywell TDC3000 and Experion systems and instrumentation.
Proficiency in project management processes. Six Sigma or Lean experience – Green/Black Belt certification. Benefits U. S.
