The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the interpretation of scope and hardware/software design, database creation, graphical user interface, and the implementation of procedures and standards used in the design and programming of controls projects.
The Controls Engineer will assist the installation tea m with system commissioning and device verification in the field. What you'll do: Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequence of operations. Develop and test software programs to operate the system. Apply fie ld change information for as-built drawings
and software. Perform tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: system programming, integration, system and network commissioning and project closeout.
Complete hardware design and software programming using established standards. Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation. Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensure owner/operator has been trained.
Provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and experience: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Electrical Engineering or o ther similar technical degree. 2+ years of t echnical, hands-on experience with systems design, commissioning and programming of digital HVAC controls systems. P roficiency working with Alerton , Tridium, or Siemens preferred. Knowledge of the concepts of HVAC controls in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems with the ability to program and commission pre and post installation.
Strong communication , interpersonal and presentation skills. Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the schedules given by leadership. Demonstrated ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all tasks. Physical Demands: Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19, and subject to all applicable laws. Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet. Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
