Job Description The Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group seeks an integrated photonics research engineer to assist in the the development of next-generation photonic integrated circuit (PIC) devices and systems. Applications of these systems include quantum computing, atomic systems, advanced laser sources, microwave photonics, communications,

sensing, and other areas that impact national security. The candidate will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Work will include performing simulations, including of nonlinear optical components; device and system characterization and packaging; and analyzing collected data.

Work will span a number of different material platforms and integration approaches. Requirments Requirements: B. S. or M. S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field. Experience with development and applications of PICs in electronic-photonic integrated systems is a plus. Experience with photonic simulation and modeling tools (e. g. mode solution, FDTD, split-step method) is desired. The ideal candidate

will also have exposure to device physics, and the relationship between device properties and system performance.

Experience with PIC packaging and control is a plus. More general experience with computer programming for simulation or lab automation is a strong plus. Database skills are also a plus. Candidates must be interested in continuing to learn and in expand their abilities and skills while undertaking challenging problems. Candidate must have proficient laboratory and analytical skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic multi-disciplined team environment.
