This leadership position will report to the Director of Vehicle Engineering for the Aeronautics Sector. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. The individual
selected for this position will provide technical leadership for the Structural Integrity and Mass Properties team. The Director's responsibilities include providing strategic and operational leadership for the Vehicle Engineering directorate.
The position duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Ability to lead highly technical team towards successful execution of Statement of Work on time and within budget Understanding of earned value concepts as they apply to cost and schedule accountability for specific SOW responsibility Ability to manage complex resource priorities across multiple program elements (Development, Production, Support, Modernization)
Excellent customer relationship required with great communication skills and a relationship with customer Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA) Knowledge of airframe structural certification following the guidelines of MIL-STD-1530 and the JSSG 2006.
Specifically understanding ASIP Tasks III-V (full scale testing, certification and force management development, and force management execution). Understanding of strain-based certification for bonded composite structure and durability crack growth analysis. Understanding of MIL-HBK-516 for structural airworthiness compliance. Ability to execute a complex structural certification plan that covers multiple airframes that have evolved in their structural configurations.
Developing and overseeing full scale and component static and fatigue testing in support strike certification. Understanding of loads and dynamics (flight and ground loads, vibro-acoustics and aeroelastic analyses/tests). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership characteristics, a commitment to ethics and integrity, exemplify strong employee engagement and accountability, and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion. He or she will inspire innovation and engineering process excellence while challenging the traditional way of doing business.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 14 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments OR Ph.
D in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of Aerospace experience, demonstrating the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments Experience with program/project reviews, research and development activities, process improvement plans, proposal reviews, and capital planning Active Do D Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must be able to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) clearance within a year of start of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline or management discipline. Proven history of leadership Experience in proposal writing and captures Experience in creating presentations and briefing executive leadership Experience interfacing with a Do D customer.
Salary Range: $181,000 - $271,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
