This position is based out of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt Maryland, but has the opportunity to be hybrid per prior approval and position. for NASA’s pursuits in deep space exploration. Your Role In the role of Mechanical Engineer Staff, you will apply general mechanical engineering principles in wide variety of applications, including design and analysis of space flight hardware and ground support equipment.
Responsibilities Determines feasibility of designs considering cost, schedule limitations and planning, as well as technical, operational, and maintainability factors. Conducts trade studies on designs for components and subsystems and analyzes for positive margins in strength, stiffness, and fatigue. Generates work orders, assembly procedures, test plans/procedures and supports mechanical testing to verify mechanical
requirements. Participates in the integration of hardware at the system, subsystem, and component level.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Waiver may be granted for education requirements per prior approval based on experience. Must have 15 years of experience.
