Biomedical Equipment Technicians are hands-on and enjoy solving technical problems, applying attention to detail, working autonomously, variation in their work, and documenting findings. Our ideal and target candidate are those with a relevant degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Engineering, or the Electronics field. Candidates without a relevant degree, but who have a Biomedical Equipment Technician certificate (i. e. BMET) with
previous related service and troubleshooting experience are also ideal. Previous field service experience is highly preferred but is not required. Those individuals without a degree or certification will be considered if they have the required level of experience.
Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOP's, equipment, policies and procedures, including any department specific requirements. Maintains a mindset that all accidents can be prevented and works pro-actively to achieve zero harm in the workplace. Follows defined Quality Management Systems, all applicable procedures, reviews maintenance records, and completes all documentation as required. Maintains a continuous flow
of the servicing line and works independently and as a part of a team to achieve process yield results.
Examines, tests, repairs and performs troubleshooting of medical devices to assignable cause using instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot tester, pressure gauges. Applies technical knowledge to interpret information, test for accuracy, discern patterns in order to determine a root cause. Writes clear and concise technical evaluation summaries resulting from troubleshooting analysis. May rotate into the repair and test areas as needed. May perform inspection duties as required per required procedures. May train employees on an as needed basis.

Sets up test equipment, measures accuracy of instruments used to record voltage, pressure, temperature, etc. Adjusts instruments to meet instrument manufacturer and calibration standards. Coordinates outside calibrations (at OEM or at the approved Calibration Service Supplier), including request of quotes, opening requisitions in the approved Purchasing
system, inspections and documentation reviews on these instruments. Maintains calibrations scheduling database and ensures timeliness of calibrations.
Reviews and approves Calibration database records for new instruments, changes to the instrument master record; Completes calibration backssments for instrument related changes.
