Project Overview Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the
design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office. Part-Time telework flexibility may be an option as the project progresses. Position Summary The Requirements Engineer supports the systems engineering activities performed on the project The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
The Requirements Engineer prepares and review key systems engineering documents and must have a working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria. The Requirements Engineer will be interfacing and coordinating with engineering disciplines and specialties, and project functional organizations in the developing, tracking, changing and verifying project requirements. Responsibilities Support Project Functions in conducting due diligence to identify and capture project requirements from contractual, governmental, and external interface sources.
Assisting in the executing Requirements Management processes, including elicitation, allocation, specification development, and verification tracking. Preparing and analyzing the impact of requirement changes, and implementing changes in requirements data sets. Capturing data enabling two-way traceability of requirements from their originating sources and their consuming products. Using data-driven methods for developing requirements and verification related deliverables, such as specifications, design criteria, system descriptions, traceability reports and verification tracking matrices.
Qualifications and Skills Basic Qualifications BS degree in Systems Engineering or other engineering field from an accredited university or college with three (3) years of related experience. International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) (or ability to obtain within 12 months). Must have the right to work and remain in the U. S. without sponsorship. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Additional Qualifications Possess understanding of Systems Engineering principles and methods, requirements management principles, and methods. Experience working with of systems engineering tools, such as IBM® Rationale DOORS® or Innoslate by Spec Innovations on a project. Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards and their influence on design. Relevant experience in developing design requirements and specifications, and verification requirements. Preferred Qualifications U. S. Professional Engineering License International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certification Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analyses Experience executing requirements management and systems engineering software packages such as Spec Innovations’ Innoslate, IBM® Rationale DOORS® or DOORS® NG, CAMEO.
Understanding of industry standards related to requirements management including ISO 15288, ISO 29148 and the INCOSE Guide for Writing Requirements Familiar with nuclear safety and requirements in design. Experience working on a large, complex EPC contract.
