respond to and address user/customer needs. This position is in Columbia, MD. Responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer I include: Manages standard configuration and installation procedure development.
Sets up, configures, installs, resolves related problems, and procures equipment related to a technical area of information systems, including network/ telecommunications, information technology engineering, or infrastructure operations. Provides installation, operation service and maintenance for various information technology related hardware, software, and services. Escalates, coordinates and resolves operations issues related to information technology, including network/telecommunications,
information technology engineering, or infrastructure operations.
Establishes technology and work processes standards for information technology and telecommunications technology implementation. Responsible for the Implementation of safety and security policies, procedures, and instruction for maintenance activities and ensures that all state and federal codes, requirements and standards are complied with. Working knowledge of the facility infrastructure (small scale HVAC and generator systems). Provides Telecom equipment installation services, including rack, stack, communications cabling and power wiring solutions necessary for equipment operation.
Assists managers and administrators in completion of the various administrative tasks required by the Government Property Management Manual, as required. Supports wide-area and/or local-area network components. Prepares preventative maintenance schedules and backup programs necessary to ensure a robust and secure network/telecommunications environment for IS&T. Evaluates new strategies and techniques that will result in business benefit for the organization. Qualifications and Skills Basic Qualifications: You must possess an active TS SCI with Polygraph security clearance. U. S.
citizenship is required for this position. Level 1: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with six (6) years’ experience relevant to Information Technology OR twelve (12) years’ work experience relevant to Information Technology in lieu of degree. Level 2 : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with nine (9) years’ experience relevant to Information Technology OR fifteen (15) years’ work experience relevant to Information Technology in lieu of degree. Salary and grade commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of projects or functions including engineering, procurement, construction and other business applications.
Basic knowledge of software/service life cycles and associated costs. Knowledge of network architecture, operations management, security, and technology. Knowledge of infrastructure systems architecture concepts, configurations and standards. Knowledge of information/data security standards, policy and procedures. Knowledge of industry and professional information technology standards. Demonstrated hands-on experience installing and initial configuration of information technology equipment. Security + Certification (ability to obtain certification within 6 months of being hired) Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated hands-on experience installing and initial configuration of telecom equipment.
Experience with installation and troubleshooting of DC power systems for use in a laboratory environment. Experience supporting IT infrastructure typically found in small project offices, including server and networking support. Experience supporting facilities infrastructure, including Power, HVAC, Generator, and Building temperature monitoring systems. Knowledge of the preparation, coordination and execution of project proposals and information technology plans.
