Year 1 – full time attendance at a local college

or training provider (off the job training) Year 2 and 3 – day release attendance at college, on the job training with additional training at our Banbury Centre What will you learn?

First principles relating to the operation and maintenance of appropriate electrical and mechanical plant equipment, such as motors, switchgear, cables & conductors, pumps, valves, gearboxes, pipework, integrated electromechanical power and control systems. Relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements Planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment The relevant engineering including electrical theories and principles relative to the role of a Service Technician Entry requirements Minimum 17 years old entry age on the first day of your apprenticeship A minimum of 5 GCSEs and have Grade 4/C (or equivalent) or above including the following subjects – Maths, English and a Science Able to climb ladders and work at heights.

You must be able to travel to a designated college in your area. You must live local/within commuting distance ( approx 30 miles) of the Branch location. (Thornbury, Bristol) IT skills By the end of the first year of your apprenticeship, you must have passed your driving test.

Able to capture and sketch complex electrical schematics. Knowledge of test equipment such as power supplies, 4-20 m A signals, AC/DC multimeter (voltage, current measurement), oscilloscopes, frequency, etc. Knowledge of communication networks and protocols such as Ethernet, Modbus, CAN, etc. Preferred knowledge of advanced programming and scripting languages such as C++, Lua, etc.
