This position is located in Roy, UT or Promontory, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. What You'll Get To Do: Work with design engineers in selection and application of non-metallic materials systems, this includes environmental coatings, adhesives, sealants, composite materials, and supporting hardware.
Create Material, Process, Component Specifications or Source Control Documents to meet Program Requirements Lead and Conduct qualifications of new materials/components, processes, and ageing studies to meet program service life. Work with manufacturing and subcontractors to resolve qualification, producibility, and test issues with non-metallic parts and their related processes. Manage Bill-of-Materials, new part requests, part objects, and part attributes in a Product Lifecycle Management System.
Support Supply Chain with component procurement requirements, selection of suppliers, and procurement issues Tailoring and allocating of non-metallic requirements to System, Subsystem, and Unit Level Specifications. Principal Material Process Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, or 0 years of experience with Ph D. Required for both levels: Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance Experience in materials testing and qualification or applicable manufacturing processes These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: Bachelor of Science degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, or applicable STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline Familiar with the Arrhenius methodology and the simulation of accelerated aging.
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-11991 and application to missile programs, MIL-STD-1568 for corrosion prevention of Aerospace Weapons Systems, and MIL-STD-7179 Finishes, Coatings, and Sealants for the Protection of Aerospace Weapons Systems. Working knowledge of Failure Analysis, physics of failure, Root Cause & Corrective Action, component specifications, component screening & qualification, component application qualification, and related installation/assembly process specifications for space applications Experience in the review and approval of subcontractor material processing procedures.
Active DOD Secret or Top-Secret clearance Salary Range: $68,500 - $102,700 Salary Range 2: $84,200 - $126,400The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
