Northrop Grumman is seeking two Deputy Chief Engineers to support the Launch Vehicles Sentinel Booster Program for the following areas: Booster Deputy Chief Engineer and a Operational Capability Deputy Chief Engineer. These positions will be located

in Chandler, AZ or remote from MS. The Booster Deputy Chief Engineer will be the technical authority for the common flight test and operation elements of the Sentinel Booster Elements as delegated by the Sentinel Booster Chief Engineer.

The Operation Capability Deputy Chief Engineer will be the technical authority of the specific operational capabilities and design protections to the Booster element as delegated by the Sentinel Booster Chief Engineer. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for the coordination of the specialty engineering to comply with natural, hostile environments, aging, reliability, Parts, Materials and Processes, and other operational specific requirements.

The Deputy Chief Engineers (DCE) will be responsible for development, decomposition, baseline maintenance, and the verification and validation process of program requirements.

The DCE provides inputs for internal planning and chairs the Risk and Opportunity Review Board(s), Engineering Review Boards, Test Readiness Reviews, Design Reviews, etc. for his/her delegated areas. The DCE also ensures the peer review process is followed and is an approver of technical/programmatic documentation for his/her delegated program(s). The DCE serves as a technical liaison to the customer(s). In addition to these roles, the DCE also provides mentorship to the Engineer team for his/her delegated programs.

In this role, the Deputy Chief Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead design, analysis, and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule. Key Responsibilities include: Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Technical management of program elements and the technical team. Lead and optimize vehicle design, integration, and mission success. Troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems that the program may encounter.

Develop, author and/or provide input to major program data products and other deliverables. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team. Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.

Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test. Planning and conduct of technical reviews and technical baseline. Writing status and technical performance reviews and reports. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems, and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.

Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas. Coaches and develops technical discipline leads and Program Engineering Managers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering plus 9 years of related experience; Masters degree plus 7 years of related experience. Previous Engineer Leadership Experience of leading leaders At least 5 years as an Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) Cost Account Manager (CAM) U.

S. Citizenship is required Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain Secret clearance Strong verbal and written communications skills with all levels of management Ability to travel 15% is required Preferred Qualifications: Engineering bachelor's degree (Electrical, Systems, Mechanical) with at least 14 years of experience is preferred Applicable master's degree or other advanced credentials is preferred Active Secret security clearance Ability to get Secret SAP clearance. Demonstrated flight test experience. Previous Sentinel program experience Recognized engineering subject matter expert (SME) (Operational Capability DCE) Previous direct experience with requirements related to Direct and Indirect Effects of Lightning (DEL/IEL) and environments unique to a nuclear device detonation event.

Salary Range: $156,000 - $246,400The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
