The Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing
materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to backss the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective
measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies. This position will require a high level of understanding of quality practices and principles. Shall be capable of working comfortably as the Cost Account Manager for major programs. Capable of leading a extensive Root Cause Corrective Action through a vigorous documented process.
Experience in high tolerance machining, heat treat, welding and chemical processing is very favorable. Must be at a high level of understanding for Geometric Tolerancing and capable of reading a CMM report. Knowledge and experience working with DCMA is a plus. Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience. Ability to obtain & maintain a Do D Secret clearance. Experience in engineering in highly-regulated manufacturing environments. Ability to quickly and continuously learn new skill sets Must be able to work independently and make sound judgments regarding work methods and tools Developing knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines.
Ability to solve routine design and engineering tasks with minor assistance Must be proficient in a variety of mathematical disciplines and be able to work with all standards of engineering units of measurement Must have good verbal/written communication skills Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Projects, and Excel Preferred Qualifications: Experience in at least one of the following categories: Fabrication, Welding, Casting, Machining, Motors Ability to discuss technical or project management issues, both verbally and in written form Knowledge and application of sound project management skills: planning, organizing, follow-through, and control Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Salary Range: $120,900 - $181,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
