Performs chemical tests on boiler and make-up water and add chemicals to water. Keep maintenance records and records of materials and supplies used. Lubricate fans, pumps, air compressors, motors, and other ancillary equipment. Clean boiler fireside and waterside.

Make patch repairs to refractory boilers. Qualifications and Skills High School diploma or equivalent; five years of experience in the operation of a boiler room facility. First Grade Stationary Engineer license in the State of Maryland. Thorough knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers, furnaces, equipment, and fuels. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices to the

boiler room facility; of the principles of electricity, hydraulics, and mechanics. Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to fire boilers; to read gauges and judge operating efficiency and safe conditions of boilers; to adjust burner controls to achieve maximum efficiency; to perform cleaning and major repairs to boilers and their auxiliaries.
