Job Dutieis and Responsibilities Perform analysis, design, and/or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products which require use of ingenuity and creativity.
Based on broadly defined problems study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned highly complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature. Without detailed direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational
requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint.
• Build finite element models and/or statistical energy analysis models for use in dynamic simulations • Perform random vibration analysis • Perform acoustic analysis • Generate dynamics test requirements, as well as, the overall qualification and acceptance test approach for avionics components and secondary structures • Execute dynamic testing (vibration and acoustic) from start-to-finish (pre-test analysis, sensor selection & installation, testing, data analysis, model correlation and report generation) • Analyze acceleration and pressure time history data from engine firings, tests, and flights for use in vibro-acoustic analyses • Provide dynamic design guidelines and requirements to mechanical designers in early phases of hardware development The candidate will be responsible for developing environments such as random vibration, shock, and acoustics that simulate launch vehicle operations.
Must be willing to work with and mentor junior analysts. Candidate will perform analyses using appropriate classical and computer aided techniques and prepare results for oral presentations and written reports. Requirements Demonstrated experience with environmental shock and vibration testing, procedures, and defining requirements.
Specific experience with military or aerospace programs in accordance with MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810 is desirable and familiarity with SMC-S-016 is a plus. Test data reduction experience including spectral analysis (SRS and PSD) and filtering is required. Previous experience evaluating launch vehicle flight data is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform fundamental shock and vibration analyses to define levels for launch vehicle components. Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
Must be able to peer review written analyses for accuracy. Proficiency with MS office and Mat Lab highly desirable. U. S. citizenship is required. Education/Certifications: A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Chemistry, Engineering, Math, Physics. MSME, MSAE preferred. Minimum of ten years experience in aerospace or related field. Experience with environmental analysis of electronic components is a plus. Proficiency with FEA software desirable, NX Nastran preferred. Prior or current clearance is desirable.
