Location/Relocation: This role is onsite M-F, days, at the Teledyne FLIR facility in Freeport, PA. Local candidates to be given preference. Relocation stipend for out of area candidates. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Serves as a subject matter expert for thin film coating processes.
Designs/develops coatings for new products. Supports/collaborates with Optical Design Engineers Proficient in coating material characterization, including refractive index and mechanical properties. Is well-versed in the design of a variety of coatings, including anti-reflective, high reflectors, beam splitters, filters, and laser coatings. Adept in designing for different wavebands, including Visible,
near infrared, mid-wave infrared, and long-wave infrared Leads the transfer of optical coating processes and technology from development to production. Is well-versed in coating equipment, pumps, evaporation sources, ion sources, crystal monitors, sputtering cathodes, and PECVD basics.
Creates and improves work instructions and related documentation for coating manufacture. Trains technicians on the execution of optical coating processes. Monitors and drives continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. Supports troubleshooting of existing optical coating equipment and processes. Troubleshoots coating processes & equipment Is well-versed in different deposition techniques, particularly
ion-assisted evaporation, but also sputtering and PECVDIs knowledgeable of test methods and techniques for qualifying/testing coatings, including related MIL-specs.
Experience with vacuum-deposited metallization for soldering applications. Leads Corrective Action / Root Cause activities for Coating products Interacts with customers in development of new products and solve quality problems. Job Qualifications: Bachelor of science degree in physics or engineering. An advanced degree is a plus. Minimum of 10 years experience specific to optical coatings
