The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This working
position is responsible for the Waste/Wastewater Treatment Plant at a Correctional Institution both in operations and maintenance. This position also instructs inmates in the special skills necessary to operate a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant through an apprentice on-the-job training program designed to develop experience and skills necessary to assume and fulfill the position of Operator of a water or sewer utility.
Operates and maintains Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant in compliance with the DEP permit and DEP rules and regulations. Carries out the preventive maintenance program for both plants. Orders and stocks all chemicals used in the operation process.
Repairs all breakdowns which can be done at the operator level and troubleshoots other specialized equipment for the utility operation such as compressors, pumps, air blowers, chlorinators, etc.
Cleans bar screens, grit chamber, settling, and sludge beds as necessary. Collects samples and performs tests including, but not limited to dissolved oxygen, total solids, suspended solids, settle able solids, biological oxygen demands, and acid or alkaline tests. Prepares reports as required on plant operations from the results of daily tests. Maintains and operates logs and related records. Prepares progress and performance reports for assigned inmates for use by the inmate’s classifications team in measuring and determining the rehabilitative progress of the assigned inmate consistent with motivation needs and the development of a positive approach to rehabilitation efforts.
Maintains custody and control of inmates assigned under the supervision of the position in accordance with accountability requirements for inmates outlined in operational procedures. Participates in required departmental staff training to enhance background and ability. Performs other related duties as required. This Manager of Cyber Systems Engineering position is a dual-role management position. The first role is as the CSEG Functional Manager for the Cyber Engineering Team supporting the Strike portfolio of programs. The second role is performing technical responsibilities for Strike Cyber Systems Engineering.
