This unique opportunity will enable the Credit Risk professional to collaborate with others across the bank business units, risk management, and the USAA Enterprise in the management and backssment of credit risk. We are seeking a dedicated Director, Credit Risk Analytics to lead a team on analysts responsible for portfolio
analytics and risk management. The director is responsible for transformation of effective risk management frameworks to enable strategic solutions for Bank portfolios.
Will lead quantitative credit/behavioral/financial analytics or predictive modeling to backss risk and opportunities while providing effective challenge for risk and strategy proposals. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Primary Responsibilities:
Leverages industry leading practices and expert analytical rigor to lead backssments of risks and opportunities across the Bank’s consumer portfolios and translate results into strategic solutions.
Influences Bank risk strategy across lines of defense by effectively leading communications on complex analytical frameworks, predictive analytics, and data science insights to diverse and senior audiences such as management committees. Leverages expert knowledge to design and develop advanced quantitative analysis across departments and programs. Proactively Identifies the need for and leads development of nuanced qualitative analysis that brings structure and clarity to ambiguous and challenging bank or enterprise problems.
Effectively challenges and recommends approval for credit, product, and/or risk proposals through detailed research and vetting, leveraging banking product knowledge and critical thinking skills to ensure strong portfolio performance outcomes. Responsible for development and maintenance of comprehensive risk reporting suite in support of management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks. Utilizes analytically derived insights to deliver strategic visions and decisions with significant impact to business results.
Leverages industry leading practices to integrate best in class risk management programs and frameworks to identify, mitigate, measure, and monitor risk. Optimizes work produced by the team by providing prioritization, guidance, and thought leadership to team members regarding analytics and risk management. Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities. May be accountable for quantitative model requirement definition and/or implementation of advanced credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree 8 years experience in industry leading risk analytics, framework development, second line effective challenge, and risk governance. OR 6 years experience in in industry leading risk analytics, framework development, second line effective challenge, and risk governance. with an advanced degree in a quantitative, scientific, engineering, business or technical field OR an equivalent level of evidenced, demonstrated competencies in industry leading risk analytics, framework development, second line effective challenge, and risk governance.
3 years management, team or major initiative leadership experience. 3 years prior industry leading analytical experience in a financial services environment. Experience influencing cross functional stakeholders to action by communicating complex analytical insights and risk mitigating solutions. Experience developing and improving a variety of risk related reporting. Demonstrated ability to provide effective challenge to senior leaders regarding risks and opportunities.
Experience leading, designing and implementing effective risk management frameworks. Experience coaching and guiding peers on analytics, and/or risk management. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws, rules and regulations, such as guidance and requirements associated with OCC Heightened Standards. Ability to ensure regulatory adherence across lines of defense Strong knowledge of current analytical coding languages such as Python, SAS, or SQL. Preferred Experience: 6 – 8 years of work experience at a large financial institution focused on Credit Card or Personal Loans or Auto loan Risk Management or Oversight, to include strategies and policies Demonstrated strategy development and thought leadership within Bank Risk.
Experience applying Credit and other principal Risk frameworks and subject-matter expertise in a financial services and/or banking industry to produce innovative solutions Discover key loss insights and trends occurring within the portfolio of loans, applying analytic methods and knowledge of origination and loan servicing practices and competitor and industry benchmarks Proven relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across lines of business and key functional support areas including first-line risk, financial management, audit services, and other areas of independent risk management Experience presenting to senior management-level audiences and committees with ability to quickly summarize and communicate complex topics.

What we offer: Compensation: USAA has an effective process for backssing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $132,500 - $253,220. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
