to the Government Operations Consultant III-SES (Communications and External Affairs Coordinator) and serves as the Division of Community Development’s (DCD) External Affairs Coordinator.
The External Affairs Coordinator is responsible for developing materials and facilitating planning/logistics relating to external events that further the Florida Commerce mission to support community, workforce, and economic development. Pay: $25.00 – $27.00/Hourly Based on Experienced This position that reports to the Government Operations Consultant III-SES (Communications and External Affairs Coordinator) and serves as the Division of Community Development’s (DCD) External Affairs Coordinator. The External Affairs Coordinator is responsible for developing materials and facilitating planning/logistics relating to external events that further the Florida Commerce mission to support community, workforce, and economic development.
Required responsibilities include: Research and help develop materials, including briefing sheets, power points, and talking points, for the Office of the Deputy Secretary to support events such as public workshops, webinars, and external meetings. Prepare executive briefing sheets, agendas, presentations, and travel plans for external events as necessary. Travel as necessary to support Division leadership at events across the state.
Help maintain a calendar for external meetings, in collaboration with the Office of Communications. Support communications between agency partners, and external partners, in coordination with the Office of Communications Draft Florida Administrative Register (FAR) notices, managing public comment periods, and related community engagement outreach for the division. Develop and maintain relationships within the Division and with external partners to support ongoing events and help maintain contact and outreach lists. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently and under minimum supervision.
Possess the technical knowledge, as well as the verbal and writing skills needed to effectively communicate with Division staff and clients in a timely manner. Ability to conduct effective research and prepare information for dissemination. Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments and to effectively handle multiple tasks. Must have good communication and excellent writing and proofreading skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point programs. Ability to understand and comply with State of Florida administrative and public records procedures.
