station and lay-down yard. The majority of maintenance and repairs are completed in a temperature regulated mechanics shop with the use of two vehicle hoists and an overhead in-shop crane. All equipment and tools are also provided. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Performs position with safety as a priority.
Performs periodic maintenance on vehicles and related equipment to insure safe operations and extended service. In coordination with the Line Manager, maintains a reasonable inventory of parts to insure prompt repair. Orders, receives, and manages parts inventory. Maintains data file of vehicle maintenance, repair activities and parts used in work activities
to ensure accurate records are kept. Performs frequent inspections of the vehicles and equipment, noting all maintenance requirements. Recommends performance of major mechanical repairs.
Maintains shop area in a neat and orderly fashion to insure a safe work environment. Monitors oil and parts supplies, and maintains an accurate inventory. Responsible for disposal of all old parts and used oil. Maintains a certification of first aid, CPR and other life saving techniques and performs these techniques as necessary to ensure that prompt attention is given during emergencies. As directed, provides assistance to other departments as directed. Performs safe modifications to equipment as necessary.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from vocational/technical school with specific training in general mechanics, hydraulic and electric systems, and welding experience; three years of experience as a mechanic or vehicle service center working with engines and hydraulics; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired. Certification/Licenses: Must have a valid ND Class A Commercial Driver's license. Knowledge: Understanding of related OSHA regulations. Awareness in how to properly and safely use tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
Capability to diagnose vehicle and equipment problems. Basic understanding of how PC based Window's software operates. Works outside on occasion with physical exertion requiring upper body strength and stamina. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Emergency work and irregular work hours may be required. Must be required to take after hour call outs. The majority of work is performed indoors but as needed, is subject to work in adverse weather elements/hazards conditions such as high temperatures, ice storms, outages, etc and is subject to work-related hazards while performing the job.
