Your Specific Responsibilities: The incumbent in this position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the Polk County Health Department facilities, adjoining exterior areas, and equipment.

This is semi-skilled work in several trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings, furniture, and laboratory equipment. Repair and maintenance on building structures and equipment. Moving of furniture/laboratory equipment to various offices/clinics. Assumes cleaning requirements in the event of a breakdown in contractual cleaning agreements. Maintains documentation of all

work performed in each clinic/office on a daily basis. Pick-up and delivery of bio-hazardous waste from all clinic locations to approved incineration site.

Completion of assigned work orders on a priority basis. Performance of duties necessary to carry on the programs of the division. Compliance with all O. S. H. A. and National Fire Code standards pertaining to structures/equipment and procedures. Compliance with FL Statutes Section 215.422 Chapter 3A-24 and all D. O. T. standards pertaining to the transport and storage of bio-hazardous waste. The incumbent in this postion will serve as backup for courier; Delivers interoffice correspondence, medical records, vaccines, medications and other items as necessary to Polk County Health Department locations within the county and other medical facilities as needed.

Must maintain and monitor cooler temperatures per PCHD cold chain policy. Delivers and picks up money bags to units. Picks up bank deposit from fiscal and delivers to Bank of America daily. Carries postal mail to mail receptacle or to Post Offfice daily. This position will serve as backup for county property inventory and will ensure all property is properly tagged with decals within 72 hours after receipt of county decal. Maintains current property list.

Submits to BOCC Property personnel, a monthly report on any new equipment purchase, request for disposal, transfer or deletions from inventory. Accompanies BOCC personnel on annual or special inventories. Reports any property discrepancies or problems to supervisor. Conduct semi-annual safety inspection and submit report via email to zzzz Feedback, Safety&Loss Prevention automatic system. This position will serve as backup and support/assistant in the absence of the primary backup staff or as needed in maintaining Health Promotion/Preparedness Trailers including Emegercy Preparedness Truck.

Monitor and Perform regular maintenance check including monitoring tires air pressure, tires wear and tear, monitor oil change schedule, schedule carwash as needed, monitor trailers to stay plugged-in to electrical outlets to prevent mold and meldew inside, assist with moving trailers around to avoid tires and other mechanical parts from rotting, assist Preparedness staff in hooking trailer to the truck when needed. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of correct grammar usage. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.

Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Qualifications: Valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
