What You Will Do: As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the proposal, design, and implementation
of all related logistics processes, machinery and equipment, storage concepts, among other things for Cat Parts or Integrated Logistics Services (ILS) projects.
Initially, this position will be primarily focused on leading logistics engineering projects supporting the Lafayette Engine Center (LEC). The job duties of a Supply Chain Planning Engineer are to design and implement successful logistics solutions. To be successful, they must utilize technical skills as well as soft skills. The technical skills are defined in 7 key skills: data purification & analysis; warehouse storage design & manufacturing point-of-use (POU) design; machinery & equipment design and procurement; workforce & equipment planning; logistics process design; inventory transfer & rearrangement planning; and integrating supply chain knowledge into warehouse design.
In addition, it is expected that a Supply Chain Planning Engineer is knowledgeable about the local warehouse management system (WMS) and can integrate this into the overall design of the facility. A Supply Chain Planning Engineer is expected to be very proficient in all areas. In addition to technical skills, a Supply Chain Planning Engineer needs to demonstrate intermediate to fully skilled levels of the following values-based competencies (VBCs): integrity & trust; building inclusive relationships; customer focus; problem solving; priority setting; and dealing with uncertainty.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time. What You Have (Basic Qualifications): Bachelor's degree. 5 (plus) years of logistics engineering experience, preferably in warehouse operations, supply chain, or manufacturing POU design. The ability to travel both domestically up to 50% of the time. What You Have (Preferred Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
Strong Computer Skills (Excel, Power Point, Project, Access, Auto CAD). Strong Project Management Skills. Strong understanding of CPS/LEAN principles.
