Responsible to operate direct-push and rotary drill rigs to collect soil and groundwater samples, operate Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) equipment, and oversee the planning and preparing of drill crews performing subsurface soil explorations for commercial, industrial,

and transportation projects assigned to the Geotechnical Engineer Activity. Oversee, direct, operate, and schedule the maintenance and repair of transport vehicles, drill rigs, and tooling.

Manage the inventory of tooling, equipment, and routine supplies and materials needed to support geotechnical drilling activities. Provide training, supervision, and instructional guidance to drilling assistants competencies as per the firms Quality Manual and Safety Guidelines of individual project assigned to the specific field crew(s), operation and maintenance of geotechnical exploration drill rigs and support vehicles, and prepare and document maintenance log for preventive equipment maintenance

methods for drilling fleet. Legibly collect and log field data to the specifications and/or job instructions provided Perform pre-bid site visits as needed to determine access, clearing needs and type of rig required to complete work for bidding purposes Assist in creating budgets and estimates for proposals, and adhering to budgets for awarded work Read and interpret topographic and geologic maps Recognize unusual ground conditions, immediately alert team of unanticipated conditions, and assist with supplemental field work/tests as required.

Attend to all details of assignments and complete work safely, properly, accurately, and thoroughly Coordinate with Administrative and Engineering staff and Supervisor regarding priorities, deadlines, weather impacts, and special work assignments Responsible for safe, daily production and efficient use of drill crews time as required by scope of work and display a high level of effort and commitment towards completing goals Set priorities, schedule activities, acquire resources, and monitor progress to ensure the successful completion of projects and assignments in a safe manner Follow and adhere to applicable American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards or jurisdictional requirements Review field procedures, and verify accuracy and completeness of field results on a regular basis Provide guidance and support for the submission of completed reports via paper or electronic submission Inform manager of workload, overtime requirements, and status of current projects Keep up to date on best drilling practices and procedures, and implement into other Raba Kistner offices Treat customers courteously and be responsive to their needs Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or (General Education Development) GED and or a minimum of four years related drilling experience.

Posses a current valid state (Louisiana or Texas) issued drivers license and Class B CDL drivers license or ability to obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of employment and meet company's auto insurability requirements. 40-hour Hazmat Training (preferred). Knowledge of Gulf Coast geology and surficial soils, principles and practices of conducting geotechnical investigations, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Streets and Highways. Experience with a variety of drilling methods and field tests/sampling (such as, but not limited to, Standard Penetration Tests, Shelby Tube Sampling, Texas Cone Penetration Tests, Field Vane, and Cone Penetration Tests).

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook). Ability to multitask and possess excellent, recording, organizational, and judgment skills. Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Regular use of highly complex machines and equipment. Work assignments are frequently performed outside in all weather conditions. This position may require protracted or irregular hours.
