Position Summary: Performs skilled manual work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, streets, sidewalks, sign installations, drainage systems, and the water system.
Performs semi-skilled level with masonry, carpentry, and other related construction work; all other work that is logical to the position. Must be available for snow removal (driving & mannually) and operate a variety of municipal heavy and lightweight construction equipment. High
School or trade school diploma or equivalency required, or a combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position. Reasonably requires three to five years of responsible experience with working familiarity of the operational methods, materials, equipment required to perform the duties.
Must possess, or have the ability to successfully obtain within 6 months of employment, a valid Massachusetts Class B Operator's License (CDL) with Air Brake Certification; tanker endorsement, hoister's license 2A, and any other licenses/endorsements required by state or federal law. Overtime hours required in inclement weather and/or unusual situations and emergencies.
On-Call responsibilities will apply to this position. Preference will be given to those applicants who have demonstrated experience operating heavy construction equipment.
This IS NOT a CDL Driving (pick-up & delivery) position. The current negotiated wage range for the position is $20.60 to $28.24.
