Union Local IBEWE 94 Summary Perform work of higher skill in the operation, inspection, testing and adjustment of all Artificial Island fire protection system, first aid functions, and equipment. Job Duties & Responsibilities Duties: 1. Operate, test, and adjust fire protection equipment such as: fire hydrants, deluge and isolation valves, and foam systems, Cardox and Halon suppression systems, alarm systems, breathing apparatus and auxiliary equipment associated with the fire protection system.
2. Operate all types of vehicular fire fighting apparatus and associated equipment such as: fire engines, rescue trucks, equipment trucks, ambulance and rescue boat, and Company vehicles, such as: passenger cars and pick-up trucks.
3. Respond to fire alarms prepared to fight fires, assist and escort off-site fire fighters and assist in other plant emergencies, including hazardous material emergencies. 4. Make routine inspections of equipment and areas as assigned and record data as required. 5. Assist in the training of assigned personnel. 6. Recharge fire extinguishers. 7. Add or change lubricant to firefighting as associated equipment. 8. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned areas.
9. Move and handle fire protection equipment, materials, and supplies. 10. Assist other departments as required in firefighting, first aid and related work. 11. Operate and test fire pumps. 12. Operate portable auxiliary equipment associated with fire protection such as: compressors, pumps, fans, generators, and foam systems. 13. Perform on-site fire hazards analysis. 14. Perform electrical tagging on 480k V and below in addition to mechanical tagging in accordance with approved tagging procedures as specified in Off-Site Tagging procedures. Clear equipment or make it ready for service in accordance with instructions and procedures; clear, tag, test, and safety tape these operations.
15. Position valves; as assigned, drain and vent systems in connection with Off-Site Tagging Procedures. 16. Perform confined space surveys to determine the presence of oxygen and/or potential explosive gas atmospheres. 17. Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group. 18. Operation of the rescue boat. 19. Perform less skilled maintenance work on all Artificial Island fire protection systems and equipment. Duties are: Remove, repair, and/or install as required, fire protection equipment such as: fire hoses, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, plug in components isolation valves, fire doors, replacement of flow switches, tamper switches, fusible links, replace level and pressure switches, lamping and battery replacement on emergency lighting, etc.
