Learn more about Sabey Corporation here: The importance this role has in our organization: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Engineer assists in ensuring that projects are completed within scope, on schedule and within budget. This position will work closely with the construction staff, owner, and design team in reviewing plans, technical documents and answering questions regarding the project scope, budget, and schedule.
The Project Engineer will oversee and manage RFI's, issues from contractors, and assist in the development of cost estimates and schedules. The ideal candidate will be expected to have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field. The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $78,141 - $117,212. What you will be doing: Assisting with estimating/purchasing efforts in the final development of the various bid packages and the baseline construction schedule.
Coordinating and tracking special inspection documentation. Creating and managing RFI's from the field to the architect/engineer of record. Maintaining, updating, and distributing project plans and records. Managing processed submittals from subcontractors/vendors to the architect/engineer of record for approval. Establishing and maintaining all project files relating to subcontracts, bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built and closeout documents. Assisting the Project Manager/owner in procuring building permits.
Documenting/creating weekly project meetings notes and distributing them accordingly. Reviewing change orders from subcontractors for scope and price, preparing and presenting them to the Project Manager. Providing field support to construction superintendents to ensure contract and quality compliance. Experience you will bring to the team: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent work experience. Understanding of construction project plans and specifications required. 1 to 2 years of construction experience preferred.
Proficiency in construction management/scheduling software and thorough knowledge of computer software applications preferred. Preferred Qualifications: MEP background preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, etc. Advanced knowledge of the English language - excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of Sabey employees and business partners. Ability to work both in a team environment and independently. Working knowledge of construction engineering best practices.

Prepares and manages preparation of complex plans and specifications requiring the application of advanced engineering knowledge. Ensures projects are in conformance with AASHTO and City standards. Prepares and implements schedules. Monitors project budgets and ensures expenditures remain within budget guidelines. Makes recommendations for process improvement. Provides status reports regarding development and
forecasted completion of projects. Prepares and manages consultant agreements for various services including design, surveying, environmental, right-of-way acquisition, construction inspection and other project services.
Coordinates and collaborates with internal and external customers including but not limited to accounting staff, planning and development staff, regulatory agencies, permitting and grant agencies, WSDOT and utility companies in the development of assigned projects. Prepares legal descriptions for rights-of-way, easements, annexations, LID's, etc. Assists in preparation and maintenance of a pavement management program. The City pays 75% of dependent premiums under either plan. Membership in the WA State Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).
