Candidates who have an Engineering degree but do not hold a professional license may be hired at a lower minimum salary and will then be eligible for promotional increases upon achieving milestones, including passing the EIT exam, years of experience, and obtaining their professional engineering license. Location: This position is in INDOT's La Porte District Construction Division. Our District includes 13 counties - Carroll, Cass, Fulton, Jasper, Lake, La Porte, Marshall, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke and White. Role Overview: As the Construction Project Engineer, you will serve as the lead for district construction projects in the field.
You will operate as a project engineer on the Indiana Department of Transportation work sites. This position plays a vital role in the full cycle of planning, building, and maintaining a superior state transportation system for the Crossroads of America. The Department of Transportation relies on these engineers to supervise highway technicians and work closely with contractors, as well as to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently in multiple phases at any given time. A Day in the Life: The essential elements of the job duties: Delegate and coordinate work assignments for construction technicians and surveyors.
Coordinate the sampling and testing of aggregates, steel, asphalt, soils and all other materials. Make recommendations to management related to change order. Respond to inquiries from local public officials, news organizations and other interested parties. Ensure that both INDOT and contractor employees are performing work in a safe manner in compliance with OSHA and other applicable standards, and reports deficiencies to appropriate office. Maintain all files related to project in an orderly and usable manner.
Supervise preparation of final construction records, examines and approves contractor requests for payment. Attend preconstruction and partnering meetings as INDOT representative. Meet with affected property owners in the project area and works to resolve access restriction issues, drainage problems and other issues that may arise during construction. Prepare and maintain daily project records and files, and oversees the work of technicians doing the same, including daily reports of materials placed, locations of work, work interruptions, contractor workforce size and composition, test results, and any other related information.
Prepare simple field drawings or sketches as necessary to implement and document minor changes to project specifications. Prepare and submit a wide variety of documentation to the Final Review Office, and coordinates with the Final Review Office in the project closure process, answering questions and doing research as requested. Teach certified technician classes and assist students in preparation for examinations; and, Perform other related duties as assigned. Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Registered Professional Engineers license in Indiana required; exception may be made for individuals with an bachelor's degree in engineering or a bachelor's degree engineering and an Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification/Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana in a lower-level classification.
Twelve (12) months experience as a Transportation Engineer. Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation. Considerable knowledge in computer software programs. Broad knowledge in construction material sampling and testing standards and Federal, State, and Departmental established test procedures and standards pertaining to materials. Skill in operation, calibration and maintenance of materials testing/sampling equipment. Limited knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Indiana Traffic Management (ITM) and INDOT specifications.

by Linde's United States Bulk and On-Site unit. The program has a class of engineers that go through 52 weeks of training in a structured curriculum that is designed to give a very broad exposure to all aspects of plant operations with limited exposure to the broader Linde organization.
The curriculum contains training common to operations with an opportunity for technical cross training. The LTOP is a mentored program, with each participant assigned a sponsor, and is specifically designed for those desiring to use an engineering/technical degree to leverage a management career and grow within the organization. Specific areas of operations that you will be required to study include all
of the various product line processes (air separation, hydrogen, hydrogen-carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, helium, rare gases and standard plants); safety, health and environmental; distribution, logistics and customer service.
Operations support functions will be covered as well. LTOP engineers will be expected to become actively involved in many aspects of their assigned training sites' activities and support their daily operations. These activities may include plant startups or shutdowns, maintenance, project planning and execution, training, problem solving, safety program execution, customer interface, personnel management, efficiency monitoring, product shipping and scheduling/planning.
Specific activities that will be performed by the engineer are related to the day-to-day operation of the plant and include but is not limited to the following: Operation of the plant using the control system and physical equipment in the field such as motors, compressors, pumps, instrumentation and various utilities (electrical, water, steam and instrument gas) backssing the efficiency and operating capability of plant equipment specifically as it relates to energy consumption Making changes to operating modes or to equipment to optimize efficiency.
