THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER As a Construction Project Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of construction projects including direct communications with owners, contractors, architects, designer, etc.
concerning project cost, staffing and scheduling for the company's federal government projects. You will assist Superintendents and Project Managers with project quality control plan development and implementation; ensure submittals are completed in accordance with project documents; create, maintain and update deficiency lists, discrepancy lists and punch lists; assist in communicating project changes and implementation of changes; follow up on material delivery; schedule, track and review all project testing; and always maintain a clean and safe physical environment.
Your project scheduling activities include, but limited to, maintain and distribute CPM schedules; utilize subcontractor and/or supplier input to develop submittal logs to ensure materials arrive are consistent with CPM schedules; provide back sight to Superintendents, give input and double-check milestone schedules; communicate to team members handling schedules for understanding of long lead items and actual needed dates are properly recorded in logs; manage the flow of information to the field (i.
e. timely return of submittals, RFIs, etc. ); and assist with the creation and distribution of look ahead schedules. You will assist Project Managers with financial monitoring and reporting; participate in monthly margin analysis projections; prepare change estimates timely for presentation to Owners during meetings; ensure estimates are complete, justifiable and defensible; prepare, review and initiate processing of subcontractors and vendors invoices; prepare monthly progress billings for Project Managers' review; prepare prime and subcontractor change orders for Project Managers' review; assist with writing, processing and tracking purchase orders; and review project personnel timecards and support any certified payroll requirements.
In addition, you will ensure all insurance certificates and bonding requirements are in place prior to pre-construction conferences; all contracts are fully-executed timely; initiate timely close-out issues; establish and adhere to deadlines for pricing requests; support and attend employee, subcontractors and vendors safety orientation meetings; participate in safety inspections; and assist Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure project personnel are fully trained and accountable in accident prevention plan, activity hazard analyses and overall safe jobsite conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and a Common Access Card Valid driver's license Two (2) to four (4) years of previous experience in construction projects as an office engineer, project engineer or another related field Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or another related field Skilled in construction project practices/procedures and knowledge of field activities Skilled in monitoring and leading jobsite safety Required training in OSHA 30 Skilled with troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving Are you attentive to detail?
