Job Summary: Process requests for laboratory work by obtaining specimens and inputting required information in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Clinical Information System.

Provide reports and other related information to clients as needed. Collects, prepares, and processes specimens for Reference Lab Testing. Performs Point of Care (POC) testing. Essential Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant Functions: Draw blood samples from the patient following set guidelines including strict adherence to National Patient Safety

Goals (NPSG). Blood draws for employees as directed by Employee Health Prepare blood samples for " send out" of POC testing Perform waived laboratory testing by following the manufacturer's instructions, enter and verifies results in Laboratory Information Systems in accordance with laboratory policies Process inpatient laboratory requests utilizing Laboratory Information System and verifies collection Process orders, collect specimens, verify, and process clinic patient orders Enters specimen and test information when required Prepares and processes specimens for Reference Lab Testing when required Scanning of reference laboratory test results when necessary Interact effectively

with physicians, patients, and other support services Participate in inventory management and optimal resource utilization What we need from you: High school diploma and an approved phlebotomy program or 4-5 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required Two (2) years of previous pediatric phlebotomy experience required Laboratory Assistant experience required CPR Required-Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross will be accepted PBT (ASCP) and/or CLPIB (NCA) programs, MA certification preferred General knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and practices Demonstrated oral and written communication skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills What you will receive: $500.00 sign-on bonus Competitive Salary Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Accident Insurance Retirement Plan and Matching Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) Tuition Reimbursement Who we are: La Rabida Children's Hospital is the only hospital of its kind in Chicago.
