Job Summary -The Laboratory Manager will serve as senior scientist in Dr. Patnaik's laboratory and execute translational research projects in the laboratory and be the point person for laboratory management/administration.

Responsibilities Leads and executes translational research projects involving cell lines, mouse models and metastatic biopsy samples from patients. Data analysis, manuscript and grant-writing related to assigned translational research projects. Works effectively in a multi-disciplinary team setting to execute lab managerial responsibilities (ordering supplies

and communicating with vendors, keeping inventory of chemicals, reagents, serving as safety officer for the laboratory, and training new members of the laboratory).

Train students, technicians and incoming new members in the research laboratory. Writes and manages regulatory protocols to be submitted to the IACUC/IBC for approval. Develops cost-effective purchasing and negotiation plans with vendors for reagents in the laboratory. Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design. Solves complex problems relating to the administration of projects, including planning new procedures,

adapting existing procedures to the needs of the project, and making significant contributions to methodology.

Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications -Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. --- Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline. --- Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Advanced degree. Experience: Experience in cancer research and tumor immunology. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Design, plan and perform experiments. Good working knowledge of relevant research techniques (murine studies; cell culture; in vitro/ in vivo therapeutic studies; immunological assays including but not limited to flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques including but not limited to cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, CRISPR/CAS9 gene editing).

Knowledge of Microsoft Office along with statistical and graphics software. Preferred Competencies Analytical skills and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Train others. Effective problem solving and record keeping. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Work independently and as part of a team.
