Project Overview Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ).

Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. Position Overview As a Mechanical Designer, you will support design development of Mechanical Systems and equipment for the Poland Nuclear Project. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office. Part-Time telework flexibility may be an option as the project progresses. Responsibilities Use 2D or 3D CAD to create layouts and arrangement of complex machine components, systems, and assemblies to meet specifications. Prepare 2-D CAD Intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on sketches and marked up prints.

Ensure drawings satisfy the required engineering and manufacturing standards. Perform proper dimensioning and designing of standard parts. Use extensive product knowledge and experience to create inventive mechanical solutions that are highly refined in performance, fit, and finished appearance. Research and investigate existing designs, supplier specifications, and industry standards to meet product and customer requirements for performance and safety. Responsible for data integrity of components list. Point of contact for support and troubleshooting. Design Building Information Modeling (BIM) and coordination with other disciplines.

Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product. Qualifications and Skills Basic Qualifications Level 1: AA/AS degree with 5 years of related design experience or 9 years of related design experience in lieu of degree. Level 2: AA/AS degree with 7 years of related design experience or 11 years of related design experience in lieu of degree. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must be authorized to live and work in the U. S. without sponsorship.

Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance. Minimum Qualifications Experience in reading/interpreting/drafting P&IDs and incorporating complex redline changes into the drawings. Experience in working with equipment, line, valve, and in-line component lists and associated data. Proficient in using Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards. Prior experience with industry-wide design/drafting tools such as Auto CAD, Bentley Micro Station, PDS2D, PDS3D, Smartplant P&ID Component Databases. Experience working in a project team environment to resolve issues and improve processes.

Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with intelligent P&IDs Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
